IFSO's published mandate
Delhi Police's current published manual describes IFSO as a specialised unit under Special Cell handling complex and sensitive cybercrime. The listed trends include investment/trading fraud, digital-arrest fraud, ransomware, cyber extortion, cryptocurrency-linked money laundering, dark-net activity and other serious cyber offences.
District cyber police also investigate cybercrime
Many cyber complaints and FIRs are handled by district cyber police stations. A complainant should not delay urgent financial-fraud reporting while trying to predict which specialised unit will ultimately investigate the matter.
For immediate financial fraud, use the national reporting channels
For ongoing or recent financial cyber fraud, 1930 and the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal are important first reporting channels. Delhi Police states that the 1930 helpline is managed by IFSO and coordinates with bank/e-wallet nodal officers.
Why the investigating unit matters later
Once a complaint/FIR is allocated, notices, record production, bank correspondence, bail/remand issues and applications concerning property or accounts should be addressed with reference to the actual investigating unit and court having jurisdiction.

Frequently asked questions
Should I wait to know whether IFSO will take my case before calling 1930?
No. In financial cyber fraud, prompt reporting is important. Use 1930/NCRP and preserve the acknowledgement; allocation to an investigating unit can follow.
Does every cyber fraud above a particular amount automatically go to IFSO?
Do not assume automatic allocation from amount alone. Delhi Police publishes IFSO's specialised mandate, but the actual unit handling a matter should be confirmed from the complaint/FIR and police communication.
Is IFSO part of Delhi Police Special Cell?
Yes. Delhi Police's published material describes IFSO as a specialised unit under Special Cell.
