Report quickly
For financial cyber fraud: call 1930, file/complete the complaint on cybercrime.gov.in, notify the bank and preserve the acknowledgement and transaction details.
Delhi Police's IFSO manual states that the 1930 helpline functions round the clock and coordinates bank/e-wallet nodal officers to stop and revert fraudulent financial transactions where possible.
Hold is not the same as recovery
A bank may identify or restrict an amount during the transaction-tracing process. Whether money can be restored to a victim can depend on competing claims, the account layer, available balance, police investigation and orders of the competent court.
Delhi High Court has examined recurring cyber-fund release issues
In December 2025, the Delhi High Court considered a criminal reference raising practical questions about release of cyber-fraud money, competing claims and liens. The developing jurisprudence shows why victims and affected account holders should work from the actual transaction trail and court record rather than assume that a portal status automatically resolves ownership or release.

Frequently asked questions
Does a successful NCRP complaint mean my money will automatically return?
No. Reporting helps initiate tracing and response, but restoration depends on the facts, available funds, bank/police action and any required court process.
What is the difference between a hold and recovery?
A hold or restriction can preserve an available amount; recovery/restoration means the money is lawfully released back to the claimant.
Should I keep following up after calling 1930?
Yes. Preserve the acknowledgement, complete the portal complaint where required, maintain bank/police correspondence and track the investigating unit and any court process.
